So me and Francisco and Yohanna decide to tackle telescope peak on the October 11th 2008. We started driving off towards Magohany Flat campground where the trail head begins at 8133ft at 9pm Friday night. It was pretty smooth driving, and lucky didn’t get lost this time. Once we were about 1/2 mile from the campsites on the unpaved road, we got stuck in the snow, twice! After digging out the snow and getting some gravel under the tires we were back on our way.

Once at the campground we decided its too cold to sleep out, so we sleep in the car.
Once we wake up, I put on some warm clothes and get started on warming up some breakfast.

After breakfast, we decided to take a 2 hour nap. We wake up again at 11:30am. Get ready and head off into the trail.

The beginning part of trail was pretty clean with not a lot of snow, but that started changing as soon as we started to gain some evaluation.

The hike was not to bad, and I managed to stay nice and warm during the hike. Though cold wind really did cool off your face really quick, lucky I brought my ski mask along.

Here are a few shots of the trail on the way up.

Shortly after arriving at the peak, it started to snow pretty heavily. We heat up some water for our food at the peak, then slowly make our way down while enjoying our nice warm dinner. We make it down to the camp site just before night fall, we decided it would be best to make the drive home so we can sleep in our nice warm beds rather than sleeping in the freezing temperature. We arrive home around 1am.

I must say, after visiting Telescope Peak in the summer, then again in the fall. The snow makes for a spectacular view, I definitely want to go again towards the end of October with more snow.
